Curbside Recycling Ambassadors

In effect until December 2016, the program provided financial support to teenagers in youth centres of the Regroupement des maisons de jeunes du Québec in carrying out projects to raise awareness of recycling outside the home.

With financial support of up to $4 000, the youth centres had free rein to develop awareness tools to convince their municipalities to install recycling equipment in public places or incite citizens to make better use of them.

The program led to the development of 49 projects and over $185 000 was granted in financing.

The centres took a highly creative approach: they made mascots, wrote illustrated booklets and songs, produced short films and created other projects to raise awareness among citizens and decision makers.
