A first step is being added to the 2026 reporting requirement regarding materials intended for the Institutions, Commercial and Industrial (IC&I) sector. This reporting must be completed between April 1 and May 31, 2026.
Which materials are targeted?
Producers will be required to report:
- Corrugated cardboard and paperboard used as secondary packaging
- Intended for street-front businesses and restaurants
- Put on the market from July 1 to December 31, 2025
No financial contribution will be required for these materials.
Why this reporting?
This first step is mandatory and complementary to producers' legal obligations for packaging and paper products intended for consumers.
It is intended to eventually enable the reallocation of the costs associated with the processing of these materials already collected, to the companies that put them on the market.
This new reporting requirement will enable:
- To more accurately assess the quantities of materials intended for IC&I’s already included in curbside collection
- To identify and approach producers specific to this sector
- To eventually reinforce fairness among producers
